Saturday 9 am.
I wake up. It's gonna be a good day. My friends and I are going to the ball park, I get to see everyone reuinted again, plus I have a gut feeling the Dodgers were gonna pull this game out.
It was the Crackman, The Voice of Reason, the Jizzard of Oz, The Makeout King, The Friend of the Makeout King, The Internet Gambler, and my sister.
Lima threw great. 9 inning shut out of the Cardinals fits well in my book.
Anyhow, before the game started, we decided to get necessities. Read: Beer
I get served, and I notice people standing up. And the National Anthem™ starts. Jonathan steps up to the cashier and as about he's gonna mutter his first word, everybody gets quiet, takes their hats off, and the vendors stop selling....
And just like a movie, the scene goes from rowdy to utter silence. Except for one word muttered from Jonathan's mouth:
"Aaaaaaaaassssssssssssssssssssss."
If anybody has seen "A Christmas Story" and remember Ralphie saying "Fuuuuuuuuudge" after he tossed his dad's lug nuts into oncoming traffic? That's how slow motion it felt.
EVERYBODY looks at our group and gives us the "Goddamn heathens" look.
Then I mutter..
"Wow, they stop selling for this...that is ass."
1 second later, Bacon's cell fone rings.
"What? At a game nigga. Naw, at a Dodger Game. A DODGER GAME! Shiit...get a new phone. hey, i gotta call u back cuz they're doing the National Anthem™ thing and people are staring at me."
That pretty much set the tone for the entire evening. We spent the night in the parking lot bullshittin' and drinking warm beers outta Bacon's trunk after the game. It was real fun...I haven't had fun like that in a while. Having the Crack Man onboard that night made things interesting....we shared stories.
"Remember when somebody caught that small mako and we got the kid to stick his foot in his mouth and he got bit?"
"Remember when that guy knocked that old lady out with the butt of his rod?"
This is the stuff we remember when we were 15.
